KNOXVILLE — A new master’s degree in human resource management will be offered in fall 2008 in the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee.

An informational session for prospective students will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in 402 Stokely Management Center.

The program is designed for professionals in public, private and nonprofit organizations who want to study human resource topics in depth. Students will be prepared to sit for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam upon program completion.

Human resource positions are the fourth most sought-after positions in the country, and human resource salaries have increased by 25 percent in the past five years. In Tennessee, starting salaries for these jobs are $40,000 to $60,000.

Courses will be offered late afternoons and evenings.
