Dr. Terrell L. Strayhorn, University of Tennessee professor and special assistant to the provost, has received the 2008 Annuit Coeptis Emerging Professional Award from the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).

This prestigious award is given annually to only five emerging professionals in the field of higher education, in recognition of excellence in research, teaching and service through active involvement in the higher education/student affairs profession. It commemorates the life and word of Dr. Phillip Tripp.

Strayhorn is an assistant professor of Higher Education, special assistant to the provost, and adjunct assistant professor of Sociology. To date, he is author of over 50 books, chapters, refereed journal articles, reviews, and grants. He has presented 100 scholarly papers at international, national, state, and regional conferences. Member of 5 journal editorial boards, Strayhorn also serves on several national advisory boards and directorates.

Strayhorn will receive the award at the ACPA’s annual convention in March 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. For more info call 974-6457.
