Higher Education Resource Services

Interim Chancellor Jan Simek and the Commission for Women (CFW) are sponsoring outstanding women to attend the 2008 Higher Education Resource Service (HERS) Summer Institute at Bryn Mawr College. Simek and the CFW are seeking applications by women faculty members or administrators who have a proven record of professional growth and responsibility and who have a keen interest in campus administration and the challenges of growing a university rich in international and intercultural diversity.

HERS is an educational non-profit agency providing leadership and management development for women in higher education administration. The Summer Institute, held at Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia, Penn., has a reputation for expanding horizons, providing exposure to new and exciting ideas, fostering enduring mentoring relationships, and training women to lead. Previous UT participants include Dr. Carolyn Hodges, Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Sarah Gardial, Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration, and Dr. Maxine Thompson Davis, Dean of Students.

To apply, each applicant must submit a current resume, a letter describing their reasons for applying and how they will contribute to international and intercultural campus initiatives such as Ready for the World, and a letter of support from their dean, director, department head or supervisor.

Send these items by February 15, 2008, to:
