NASHVILLE — Four University of Tennessee faculty and a non-exempt staff member were named here Tuesday as the UT Presidential Search Committee completed appointments to the 18-member UT Presidential Search Advisory Council.
The Search Committee also approved the Search Advisory Council’s committees and appointed chairs.
Faculty named were: Dr. Larry Hak, UT Health Science Center; Dr. Nancy Warren, UT Martin; Dr. Vic Bumphus, UT Chattanooga; and Dr. Peter Hoeyng, UT Knoxville.
Charmagyne Akram, UT Health Science Center, was named the non-exempt staff representative.
These appointees join four students, four alumni leaders, four trustees, and an exempt staff member named to the council Oct. 10 at the UT Board of Trustees meeting.
Advisory Council committees and chairs appointed Tuesday were:
Criteria, Advertising and Recruitment Committee: John Thornton, Chair, UT Trustee; Akram; Jim Duke, UT National Alumni Association President; Hoeyng; Lacy Long, student, UT Health Science Center; and Tracy Trice, student, UT Martin.
Communications Committee: Susan Williams, Chair, UT Trustee; James Armour, student, UT Chattanooga; Roger Dickson, UT Trustee; Daniel Klyce, student, UT Knoxville; and Warren.
Due Diligence and Interview Planning Committee: Waymon Hickman, Chair, UT Trustee; Bumphus; Debbie Diddle, Knoxville alumna; Spruell Driver, President Elect, UT National Alumni Association; Hak; and Rebecca Peterson, UT Center for Industrial Services.
Andrea Loughry chairs the trustees’ Presidential Search committee. Dr. Margaret Perry, chancellor emeritus of UT-Martin, is executive director of the search.
“We are committed to an inclusive, open process that will make this presidential search work and renew the public faith in the University of Tennessee,” Perry said.
In a joint meeting held after the appointments, the Search Committee and Advisory Council also planned a series of forums at all the UT campuses to discuss the search with faculty and staff.
Dates for the forums, which should begin by next month, will be announced soon, Perry said.
The groups also talked about other organizational matters, including a presidential search Web site, nomination procedures and policies, and accommodating open search procedures under the state’s Sunshine laws.
