KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The executive committee of the University of Tennessee board of trustees will meet July 23 to authorize Dr. Wade Gilley’s signature for banking matters and approve an employee compensation plan.

The telephone conference call meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will originate from 721 Andy Holt Tower, Beauchamp Brogan, UT’s general counsel and board secretary, said.

A resolution authorizing Gilley’s signature is necessary for checks, drafts and other orders of payment to be made on behalf of the university. Gilley will become UT’s 20th president Aug. 1, succeeding Dr. Joe Johnson.

The university is required to approve a compensation plan to comply with legislation passed earlier this year by the General Assembly. After the plan is approved, it will be sent to the Office of Finance and Administration, as called for by the legislation.

Jim Haslam is chairman of the executive committee. Other members are Charles Coffey, Amon Carter Evans, Jerry Jackson, Bill Sansom, Susan Williams and Joe Johnson.
