KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Linda S. Davidson of the University of Idaho has been named chief development and alumni affairs officer at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Davidson’s appointment as vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs was announced Tuesday by UT-Knoxville Chancellor Bill Snyder. The appointment is effective Sept. 14.
For Davidson the appointment brings her back to UT where she served as a development officer before leaving seven years ago to return to her alma mater as executive director of the University of Idaho Foundation.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to return to UT-Knoxville,” Davidson said. “The quality of the development and alumni programs is superb, and I happy to have the opportunity to work again with Chancellor Snyder, his staff, collegiate deans, faculty and volunteers.
“During the mid-1980s when Chancellor Snyder was dean of engineering, we worked together on the college’s ‘Bridge to the Future’ fund drive.”
Davidson said the success of UT-Knoxville in the university’s 21st Century Campaign is an indication of the support on campus as well as from alumni and friends.
“The university is fortunate to lure Linda back to Tennessee,” Snyder said. “She is well known in college development ranks for the outstanding job she did here and at Idaho.”
Davidson is a board member and past vice president of the Society of Institutionally Related Foundations. She currently is a board member of District Eight of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
She is married to Dr. P. Michael Davidson, a professor of food microbiology at Idaho. They have two daughters, Laurel and Holly, who are students at the University of Idaho.
