KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Gerald C. Ragghianti Jr. of Arlington, Tenn., is the 1998-99 recipient of the William I. and Sarah E. Russell Scholarship at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Ragghianti, who attended Craigmont High School in Memphis, is the son of Sharon and Gerald Ragghianti of Arlington. He plans to major in physics. The award is endowed by a gift from Darrell Russell, a Memphis architect, in honor of his parents.

At Craigmont Ragghianti participated in the Knowledge Bowl and the Governor’s School for the Sciences. He was in the Science Club, National Honor Society, and band.
