Several Knoxville-area students have earned scholarships at the University of Tennessee College of Law for 1997-98.
Travis J. Graham of Knoxville is the recipient of the John W. Green Scholarship. A third-year law student, Graham received the bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia Tech in 1991.
Lisa Gayle Lewis of Knoxville is the recipient of the Tennessee Bar Foundation IOLTA Scholarship, the Tennessee Association of Public Interest Law Fellowship, and the Clarence and Augusta Kolwyck Equal Access to Justice Scholarship. Lewis received the bachelor’s degree in European studies from Vanderbilt University in 1995.
Thomas A. Kulaga of Knoxville received the Arthur B. Hyman Scholarship. Kulaga, a second-year student, earned the bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1977.
Rachel Alain Hammett of Knoxville received the Knoxville Auxiliary to the Tennessee Bar Association Scholarship. Hammett, a first-year student and daughter of Susan and Charles Hammett of Knoxville, graduated summa cum laude from UT-Knoxville in 1996 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Jennifer Niles Coffin of Knoxville is the recipient of the Judge Louis Kirby Matherne Scholarship. Coffin, a first-year student, received the bachelor’s degree in French from UT-Knoxville in 1995, graduating summa cum laude.
Melinda Simon of Maryville received the Richard T. Sowell Scholarship. Simon, a second-year student and daughter of Andy and Judy Simon of Maryville, graduated from the University of Memphis in 1993 with a degree in history.
Kevin T. Beck of Knoxville received the Judge Carl E. Colloms Scholarship. A third-year student, Beck earned the bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Alabama at Huntsville in 1995.
Brian M. Child of Knoxville is the recipient of the Harold C. Warner Centurion Scholarship. Child, a first-year student, earned the bachelor’s degree in public administration from UT- Knoxville in 1997, graduating summa cum laude.
Melainie Nichole Cantrell of Clinton received the Howard H. Baker Sr. Scholarship. Cantrell, a first-year student, earned the bachelor’s degree in biology and zoology from UT-Knoxville in 1996, graduating magna cum laude.
Kristi Marsh of Knoxville is the recipient of the E. Bruce and Mary Evelyn Foster Scholarship. Marsh, daughter of Ward and Sharon Marsh of Knoxville, graduated cum laude from UT-Knoxville in 1995 with a degree in broadcasting.
Tim Rauhuff of Knoxville received the John and Patsy Waters Scholarship. Rauhuff earned a degree in anthropology and psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1993.
Cynthia Patrick of Knoxville received the John W. Green Scholarship. Patrick, a first-year student and daughter of Edward and Corinne Patrick of Knoxville, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond in 1992 with a degree in English. While an undergraduate she was selected for Phi Beta Kappa.
Michelle LeGault of Knoxville received the Howard H. Baker Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Michelle graduated cum laude from Luther College in Iowa, earning the bachelor’s degree in French and anthropology.
Summer Stevens, daughter of Thomas G. and Sherry Haskins of Knoxville, received the John Joseph Graham Scholarship. Stevens, a second-year law student, graduated cum laude from UT-Knoxville in 1987 with a degree in Latin. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of Georgia and a doctorate from Ohio State University.
Eddy R. Smith of Oak Ridge is the recipient of the W. Hugh Overcash Tax Law Scholarship. Smith, a third-year law student, graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech in 1990 with a degree in economics.
Brian Robert Easley of Knoxville received the John F. Schrankel Scholarship. Easley, a first-year law student, graduated cum laude from UT-Knoxville in 1987, earning a degree in psychology.
