KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Issues Committee at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville has earned the distinguished lecture program award of a national association for its 1995-96 speaker series.

The award came from the Education Foundation of the National Association for Campus Activities, whose members represent more than 1,200 college and universities and 600 talent and promotional agencies nationwide.

Issues Committee advisor Berri Cross said speakers in the series included Alice Walker, poet and author, speaking on women’s role in society; and Greg Louganis, U.S. Olympic gold medal winner, speaking on AIDS education.

The Issues Committee earned NACA’s lecture program award on one other occasion for its 1992-93 series, Cross said.
