KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Work on the performance funding report and the teacher evaluation program has won the Team Excellence Award for four University of Tennessee-Knoxville departments.
The offices of Academic Affairs Program and Evaluation Services, Institutional Research, Enrollment Data Services and State Testing were honored Thursday by UT-Knoxville Chancellor Bill Snyder. The award was established by the Chancellor’s Office to recognize teamwork between university departments.
“By fostering good communications and genuine appreciation for the contributions of others, the staffs of these four offices have set an example of team excellence that deserves wide recognition,” said Dr. John Peters, vice chancellor for academic affairs, who presented the award for Snyder.
Tennessee’s public colleges and universities can receive additional money from the state under the performance funding program. UT-Knoxville received the maximum dollars available in 1995-96 in large part because of the team’s work, Peters said.
The teacher evaluation effort involves an analysis of more than 70,000 forms from students and teachers. The surveys are used to produce a handbook, Tennessee 101, students can use to choose courses.
Directors of the offices honored are Nancy McGlasson, Program and Evaluation Services; Dr. Don Scroggins, Institutional Research; Fretta Bunch, State Testing; and Pam Hindle, Enrollment Data Services.
