KNOXVILLE — A Georgia attorney and University of Tennessee graduate has given $100,000 to UT’s College of Law as part of the university’s 21st Century Campaign.
The W. Allen Separk Faculty Development Endowment will support faculty research in the college, said law dean Richard Wirtz. Separk, who has a private practice in Marietta, is a 1969 UT law graduate.
“The College of Law is embarking on a journey that I believe will take it to a higher level,” Separk said. “While the quality and success of our alumni reflect on the college, the quality of our law school likewise reflects on us. We need to be financially supportive of the new initiatives that are moving the college forward.”
Separk is chairman of the college’s Dean’s Circle and a member of the Alumni Advisory Council. He was the recipient of the college’s Alumni Leadership Award in 1985. Separk is chairman of the board of trustees of Kennestone Hospital in Marietta and is a former chairman of the Kennestone Foundation.
“Al Separk is as loyal a friend as the law school ever had,” Wirtz said. “He puts his principles into practice and lives his faith. I truly wish that everyone knew a lawyer like Al Separk. We are grateful for this gift.”
The College of Law seeks to raise $6 million as its part of UT’s $308 million 21st Century Campaign. Gifts to the college support centers for advocacy and entrepreneurial law, fund professorships and scholarships, and expand the services of the legal clinic and law library. Gifts also provide for educational resources in the new law
building, now under construction.
