KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Jennifer Harper, Hixson native and University of Tennessee-Knoxville graduate student in civil engineering, has been named a 1996 Eno Fellow by an industry organization dedicated to the improvement of transportation policy and leadership.

The Eno Transportation Foundation Inc. chose 20 Fellows from a national pool of nominees.

As a Fellow, Harper attended the 1996 Leadership Development Conference in Washington, D.C., where she learned from and exchanged views with national transportation policy-makers.

Harper, a second-year graduate student, has been involved in a number of research projects at the UT Transportation Center and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

At UT-Knoxville, she was appointed chairperson of the civil engineering department’s undergraduate enhancement committee. She was also named 1995 Outstanding Southeastern Transportation Center Student.

Harper is president of UT’s student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineering, and founder and president of the new student chapter of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America.

The Eno Foundation, headquartered in Lansdowne, Va., was created by William Phelps Eno in 1921.
