KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Alumni, students and friends will gather here Sept. 30 for the University of Tennessee’s annual Ag Day celebration.

“Agriculture…A New Perspective” is the theme of the event, set for 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the agricultural campus off Neyland Drive.

Sam Venable, Knoxville News-Sentinel columnist, will speak at noon. A picnic-style lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Meal tickets, costing $6.75 each, can be reserved by calling 974-1928 before Sept. 15.

Other Ag Day highlights include tours of the veterinary teaching hospital and food technology facilities, departmental displays and demonstrations, carriage and trolley rides and presentations on landscape improvements.

UT’s Pep Band and the team mascot, Smokey, will participate.

Kickoff for the UT-Oklahoma State game is set for 4 p.m. If kickoff time should change, the Ag Day program will begin four hours before the start of the game.
