MARTIN, Tenn. — Gov. Don Sundquist will attend the June 9 opening of the renovated and enlarged Paul Meek Library at the University of Tennessee-Martin.

Former Gov. Ned McWherter and former Congressman Ed Jones will join Sundquist for the 20-minute ceremony, beginning at 11 a.m.

The $9.8 million project, which began in August 1993, more than doubled the library’s size to 120,630 square feet.

The library houses 300,000 volumes, individual and group study rooms, replicas of McWherter’s and Jones’ offices and the papers of the late Holland McCombs, a Time- Life correspondent who grew up on a farm now occupied by UT- Martin.
