A UT professor of mathematics who is a passionate advocate for women and other underrepresented groups in STEM fields has received a top award from the Southeastern Conference. Suzanne Lenhart was honored with the 2017 SEC Faculty Achievement Award, the SEC announced this week.
Suzanne Lenhart, a professor of mathematics and a passionate advocate for women and other underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, has been selected as a James R. Cox Professor.
The College of Arts and Sciences celebrated outstanding faculty with awards in diversity leadership, advising, teaching, research, academic outreach, and service on December 1 at the annual Faculty Awards Ceremony held at the Holiday Inn-Downtown.
At the campus’s annual Honors Banquet last week, Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek celebrated faculty, staff, and students for their accomplishments throughout the past academic year. Suzanne Lenhart, a mathematics professor and Chancellor’s Professor, was recognized for her excellence in academic outreach. Michael Handelsman, director of global studies, received the Ready for the World Award.
