UT Knoxville’s Ready for the World Cafe will take diners on culinary adventures to Japan and Thailand on Thursday, November 13, and Thursday, November 20.
The Ready for the World Cafe will journey to France on Thursday, October 23 and October 30. The luncheons will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the UT Visitors Center, 2712 Neyland Drive.
Amber Roessner, an assistant professor of journalism and electronic media, interviewed former President Jimmy Carter last week at the Carter Center in Atlanta. The interview was for Roessner’s second book, tentatively titled Jimmy Who: Jimmy Carter and the Practice of Presidential Press and Promotion in the First Post-Watergate Election, due to be published by LSU
Classical music from around the world will be celebrated in UT’s Ready for the World Music Series, which kicks off on Sunday, October 12.

Clarence Brown Theatre’s production of The Miracle Worker begins today and runs through October 19. The production stars Rachel Finney, a legally-blind UT senior who draws on her own life experiences to play Helen Keller.

Paige Scrivener has been appointed the Confucius Institute’s new student ambassador. As an ambassador, she serves as the liaison between the Confucius Institute and the UT and Knoxville communities. Scrivener, of Memphis, is a junior in global studies with a concentration in global politics and economics and a double minor in Chinese and Asian studies.
The Center for International Education will host its annual International Education Week September 22-26 with events that celebrate the diverse culture on campus and showcase the university’s global initiatives.
The College of Communication and Information will celebrate its Diversity and Inclusion Week September 22–25 with a keynote speech, an open forum, panels, and a diversity festival. Jose Aponte, director of the San Diego County Library System, will deliver the keynote address at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, in the McClung Museum auditorium.
