Approximately 19,000 students either live in areas surrounding campus or commute to the university. These students account for a large majority of our campus population and we are continuously looking for ways to assist with matters that are most important to them.
A new T bus route has been added to UT’s Parking and Transit schedule to help connect members of the campus community to Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley campus and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
UT Parking and Transit Services has made some changes to parking to help accommodate student, faculty, and staff needs and to help make navigating around campus construction easier.
Staff and faculty will receive an email on Monday, July 13, with instructions to renew their parking permit online.
Parking and Transit Services has temporary positions open for parking attendants. Current UT Knoxville employees are encouraged to apply.
The campus closed at noon today due to inclement weather, but some campus services are open to students and staff.
Staff parking permits for the 2014-15 academic year are now available to purchase online using payroll deduction or credit card. Employees will need to have their Net ID and password, vehicle license plate, vehicle description, and current address. Once logged in to the system, employees can follow the prompts to submit or edit information. Transactions
The campus’s Traffic and Parking Authority recently approved a revised Alternative Vehicle Policy effective July 1. This policy covers the operations of golf carts, utility vehicles, and similar vehicles and requires them to display a permit. The permit is free, will not expire, and can be easily obtained from UT Parking and Transit Services.

Ridership aboard the T Transit System has reached an all-time high this semester and for the system’s eleven-year history on campus. Ridership has increased this fall by 55 percent over the same period last year. That’s an increase of 96,078 passengers, primarily students. More than 269,700 passengers have used the new buses since July 1.
