The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Campus Advisory Board heard presentations on the upcoming annual budget, student success initiatives, and accomplishments from a historic year for the university at its meeting May 12.
UT is celebrating historic success this fall, setting records in both retention and enrollment that are underscored by the university’s innovative student success programs and student experience.
UT will welcome new and returning students as the fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 18. With record total enrollment surpassing 40,000, the university remains dedicated to expanding educational access and providing an unparalleled student experience.
Chancellor Donde Plowman shared with the UT Board of Trustees a vision for research and enrollment growth at the flagship university. The board approved a zero tuition increase, new academic programs and real estate agreements.

The Campus Advisory Board gathered to hear university priorities, including the ways UT wants to distinguish itself as an institution. Leaders outlined university achievements, record successes and innovative programs to guide students, provide them with experiential learning opportunities and build the future workforce.
UT is expanding its commitment to making higher education more affordable and accessible across Tennessee with the announcement of 14 additional high schools that are now part of the Flagship Scholarship program.
Newly released data shows that UT is celebrating another historic year in student success and record enrollment, thanks in large part to the innovative and holistic student programs that have made the university a national leader.
With the largest number of in-state first-year students in university history and a retention rate above 91% for the first time, UT is set to welcome around 37,000 students to campus as the fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 19.
The board approved lease agreements and honorary degrees, and heard updates on online learning.
