David Northington, the Powell Distinguished Professor of Piano in UT’s School of Music, will present his last concert as a faculty member at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6.
After almost forty years of teaching at the University of Tennessee, Professor David Northington will retire at the end of the 2015–16 academic year. He will celebrate by performing a tribute to Chopin at one of his final concerts on Sunday.

David Northington, professor of music at UT Knoxville, has been selected by the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society as the 2010-12 National Phi Kappa Phi Artist for his accomplishments as a pianist, professor and campus and community volunteer. Only one of these awards is given nationally every three years.
As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, WUOT Public Radio will present world-renowned pianist David Northington in a free concert at 8 p.m. on Monday, May 24, in the Lambert Recital Hall of the new Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville. Northington is a professor of piano at the UT Knoxville School of Music
