UT alumnus and former media mogul Chris Whittle, founder and CEO of Edison Schools Inc., will kick off the university’s Educational Leadership Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at UT Knoxville.
Kent State Professor Autumn Tooms, who previously worked as a teacher and as a school administrator at the elementary, middle and high school levels, has been named director of UT Knoxville’s Center for Educational Leadership. Tooms also will be a professor in UT’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She begins on Aug. 1.
The Center for Educational Leadership, a collaborative venture between the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and Knox County Schools, is being established at UT Knoxville with funding from a private gift.
