The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Division of Student Success will celebrate Vol Success Week Feb. 24-28, engaging students in a weeklong series of events to enhance their academic success and prepare them for midterms.
Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to engage with resources from the Academic Success Center, the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration, Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, University Honors and the Vol Study Center. Programming will offer numerous opportunities for students to learn more about academic resilience, methods for success and well-being.
The week will include a variety of events:
Study Smarter Using Your Strengths
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.Perkins Hall, Room 324
Students can learn how to leverage their CliftonStrengths to study smarter and succeed in their classes.
Getting Started in Undergraduate Research and Fellowships
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Haslam Business Building, Room 131
Undergraduate Research and Fellowships will provide information on research and fellowship opportunities on and off campus.
Late-Night Breakfast
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 8 to 9 p.m.
Hodges Library, second-floor lobby
Students can fuel their studies with a late-night breakfast made with love by Vice Provost for Student Success Amber Williams in partnership with UT Libraries.
Refresh for Success Open House
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Student Union Plaza
Students can drop by the Vol Study Center to enjoy free snacks while learning more about its study resources.
Vol to Vol: Choose Your Major
Thursday, Feb. 27, 4 to 6 p.m.
Baker School, Toyota Auditorium
Students can network with upperclass students in declared majors to learn more about what is available to them on campus.
First-Gen Alumni Networking
Thursday, Feb. 27, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Pilot Company Ballroom, Student Union
First-generation students are invited to network with UT alumni and their peers to gain practical advice on career paths and practice their networking skills. Attendees will receive free personalized business cards. Advance registration is required.
Brewing Success
Multiple dates throughout the week, 9 to 10 a.m.
Students can grab a free coffee or energy drink before meeting with various members of the student success staff — including academic coaches, and career coaches — and campus VIPs.
Student Success Express
Multiple dates throughout the week, 5 to 7 p.m.
Students can meet with a staff member from the division outside of normal office hours to discuss academic needs or other support-related topics.
Build Your Own Study Kit
Multiple dates throughout the week
Students can create a study kit to help them during midterms.
Success Workshops
Multiple dates throughout the week
Special workshops will cover test-taking strategies and stress management.
Vol Success Week is the final event of Big Orange Welcome, which features hundreds of events to welcome and support first-year and transfer students during their first semester at UT. Initiatives like Vol Success Week underscore UT’s commitment to enriching the student experience and improving outcomes.
