The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has received a 2025 Best Place for Working Parents designation in recognition of its commitment to supporting working parents through family-friendly policies and practices.
“We are incredibly proud that UT is being recognized for its dedication to supporting working parents,” said Tarah Keeler, interim associate vice chancellor for human resources. “Offering meaningful benefits that help employees balance their professional and family lives aligns with UT’s strategic vision of fostering an inclusive workplace. This acknowledgment reflects our commitment to investing in our people and ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive both at work and at home.”
In addition to family and medical leave, UT offers paid parental leave. Employees have the opportunity to explore alternate work schedules based on departmental and individual needs.
To support work-life balance, UT provides comprehensive wellness programs focusing on self and family care as well as an employee assistance program. The Be Well initiative offers programs that promote personal and community well-being and increase awareness of healthy living.
In 2024, UT was recognized as a Tennessee Veteran Ready Business, a Dream Employer, one of Tennessee’s Top Employers, a Best Employer for New Graduates, and one of America’s Best Large Employers.
About the Designation
The Best Place for Working Parents designation brings together a group of like-minded employers who prove that being family friendly is not only good for employees but also good for business. Establishing and maintaining policies with working parents in mind expands the recruiting pool and leads to happier, healthier and more productive team members.
