The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s best employers for new graduates for the third consecutive year.
“We are thrilled to be recognized once again this year as one of Forbes’ Best Employers for New Graduates,” said Mary Lucal, associate vice chancellor for human resources. “We work hard to make UT a place where everyone matters and belongs, and this certainly includes individuals who have recently graduated and are newly entering the workforce. Our focus on inclusive workspaces, career and professional development, and flexibility makes us a great landing place for new grads.”
More than 28,000 young U.S. professionals working for companies that employ at least 1,000 people participated in the independent survey, which focused on work-related issues and workplace experiences. Participants were asked to rate the likelihood that they would recommend their employer to family and friends. They assessed their employer according to atmosphere and development, diversity, image, salary and wage, working conditions and workplace. Participants were also asked to evaluate other employers in their industry that stand out either positively or negatively.
UT’s Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration gathered information from 81 percent of 2022 bachelor’s degree graduates. Ninety percent of them had either found jobs within six months of graduation or opted to continue their education. Of those who provided details about their work, 60 percent stayed in Tennessee, and of those, 50 percent stayed in the Knoxville area.
The university has also been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers and a best place for working parents this year. In 2022, Forbes named UT one of America’s best employers, one of Tennessee’s best employers, a best employer for new graduates and a best employer for women.
