The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been named a 2023 Best Place for Working Parents — the first business in the state to earn the designation from Best Place for Working Parents.
“We are thrilled to receive this recognition of the strong support we have in place for working parents at UT Knoxville,” said Mary Lucal, associate vice chancellor for human resources. “But we also view this as a challenge to keep improving and upping our game to make UT the very best employer for working parents.”
In addition to family and medical leave, UT also provides paid parental leave. There are opportunities for exploring an alternate work schedule depending upon department and individual needs. To assist employees with work-life balance, wellness programs are available that focus on self and family care along with an employee assistance program. The Be Well initiative provides employees with a variety of free wellness opportunities that include cooking classes, gardening classes, lunch and learns, fitness classes and other programs.
In 2022, UT was recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best employers, one of Tennessee’s best employers, a best employer for new graduates and a best employer for women.
The Best Place for Working Parents is a growing national network of business leaders that promotes family-friendly policies as a best practice for businesses.
