Staged advising photoshoot for Student Success in the Student Union Career Center (2nd floor)

Students are the foundation of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Volunteer culture. Faculty, staff, and administrators celebrate the diversity of students’ strengths and backgrounds with a commitment to provide each one with the opportunities, care and support they need.

When students reported challenges navigating the multiple departments and offices at UT, the university took action to ensure that they could easily connect with the resources they need.

Efforts included the creation of Vol Success Teams to aid students throughout their time on Rocky Top. Each student has a personal Vol Success Team made up of an academic advisor, an academic coach, and a One Stop student services counselor to help them achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.

With the help of the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment, Vol Success Teams not only help students navigate life at UT but also boost their confidence and show them how they uniquely make a difference as part of the Volunteer community.

In a recent article, Gallup, a global analytics and advice firm, highlights how helping UT students thrive starts with understanding and celebrating their strengths.
