Surprise Austin-East
High school senior surprised with admission to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, surprised new Vols on campus tours and at Fulton and Austin-East High School—two of 38 high schools in the state of Tennessee whose students are eligible for the Flagship Scholarship. Multiple high school seniors were admitted to the university as the very first members of the Class of 2025. The surprises were opportunities to celebrate student admissions and also recruit future Vols.

During their official visit to campus, select students were presented with their admission letters by Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Fabrizio D’Aloisio along with balloons and other UT swag.

Fulton and Austin-East High School also orchestrated special surprise visits for both in-person and virtual students. Students were greeted outside with a socially distanced celebration. Smokey, cheer squad members, Chancellor Donde Plowman, and enrollment representatives were on hand to congratulate the newest Vols.
