For the second year in a row, full-time faculty and staff at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, have reached a 99 percent completion rate for Title IX training.

The training assists faculty and staff across campus in reporting and responding to concerns of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, relationship violence, stalking, and retaliation, in a supportive and consistent manner. It ensures that employees have a foundational knowledge of reporting options, resources, prevention efforts, and active bystander expectations. Individuals completed the training and assessment online.

This year’s training included a call for faculty and staff to follow A.C.T., the university’s guide for being an active bystander and safely intervening in situations that could lead to sexual misconduct. A.C.T. encompasses three steps: acknowledge the situation, consider your options, and take action.

“To achieve 99 percent completion for the second straight year shows the commitment of our faculty and staff to these issues and their role in our community,” said UT Title IX Coordinator Ashley Blamey. “I am grateful to our faculty and staff who are committed to A.C.T. No matter where a student reports, the Office of Title IX ensures they have access to the same resources and options.”

Once individuals are connected to the Office of Title IX, they receive reporting options and access to medical care, academic or workplace support, mental health services, and safety resources.
