Green Zone trainings and a special dinner for faculty, staff, and student veterans are the campus events planned for the week of Veterans Day.

The first Green Zone, to be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on November 12 in the Lindsay Young Auditorium in Hodges Library, will be geared to student veterans and focus on veteran benefits, transition from active duty, and cultural awareness of today’s student veteran. Sign up online.

A second Green Zone training, to be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on November 13 in the Lindsay Young Auditorium in Hodges Library, will focus more on veteran employees. Sign up online.

Both trainings are open to faculty, staff, and students, and will feature interactive panels of student and employee veterans to help facilitate and answer questions. Participants can attend one or both sessions.

The veterans appreciation dinner will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pilot Flying J Ballroom of the Student Union.Brigadier General Jimmie L. Cole Jr, land component commander of the Tennessee Army National Guard, will be the guest speaker. UT’s Army and Air Force ROTC will present a joint color guard. Faculty, staff, and student veterans should have received a digital invitation to the dinner with a request for an RSVP.

UT’s Veterans Day events have been organized by the Veterans Resource Center along with the Office of Diversity and Engagement, Human Resources, Air Force and Army ROTC, and the Haslam College of Business.
