On Wednesday, October 11, faculty, staff, students, and special guests gathered in Circle Park to plant a white dogwood tree to celebrate Chancellor Beverly Davenport’s investiture.
Representatives from campus addressed Chancellor Davenport and thanked her for her leadership and commitment to advancing the university.
Among those that gave remarks:
- Mary Lucal, associate vice chancellor for human resources
- Beauvais Lyons, professor of art and Faculty Senate president
- Dave Irvin, associate vice chancellor for facilities services
- Payton Myers, Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville president
- Morgan Hartgrove, Student Government Association president
The investiture ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 13, at Cox Auditorium in Alumni Memorial Building.

Student Government Association president Morgan Hartgrove presents Chancellor Davenport with a plaque to commemorate the day. Another plaque will be installed by the tree in Davenport’s honor.
