Annual online Title IX training is now mandatory for all UT Knoxville faculty and staff. The training is intended to provide faculty and staff a foundational knowledge that prepares them to manage issues related to Title IX.

Title IX Coordinator Ashley Blamey has described faculty and staff as “our first line of support and critical to addressing these issues.”

The online program is customized for the UT Knoxville and UT Institute of Agriculture’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation. The deadline to complete the training is December 1, 2017.  The first section is mandatory. You will receive an invitation to complete the second section after completing the first. Although recommended, completing the second section is not required.

The Office of Title IX recently provided employees a link to K@TE (pronounced “Kate”), the new UT Learning Management System. Employees can access the training from the Title IX website or by visiting the K@te page.

You will need to log in with your NetID and password and have internet access and audio capabilities. To avoid technical issues, use Chrome or Firefox as your browser. The training takes approximately 60 minutes to complete, and it can be taken in multiple sittings.

During the course, you will be prompted to agree to online terms. UT has entered into an agreement with the provider and the terms specified in the prompt pages do not apply to UT or to individual employees. The agreement is not binding, and you can click “agree” through the language and proceed.

Those who do not have access to the online course can request in-person training.

Training is a key part of the overall framework for addressing Title IX issues by providing support to students, investigating and resolving cases, managing the policy, and carrying out prevention and education efforts, along with identifying and addressing patterns and trends.

“Having everyone’s commitment creates opportunity for a large university to become a small town where anyone a student talks with will know how to best assist them in the next steps,” said Blamey.
