David Bailey, a longtime supporter and graduate of UT, passed away August 7. He was 90.

Bailey, a 1950 alumnus of the Haslam College of Business, played for the Volunteers football and golf teams during his educational career. He became a successful business executive and generous benefactor to the university and community.

In 2007, the Claxton Addition wing of UT’s Claxton Education Building was renamed the Jane and David Bailey Education complex in honor of Bailey and his wife.

Earlier this year, the UT Board of Trustees voted to name the Graduate School of Education in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences for Bailey.

Bailey’s obituary can be found in the Knoxville News Sentinel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the David T. and Jane O. Bailey Scholarship Endowment Fund. For more information, contact Randy Atkins at 974-3994 or matkin11@utk.edu.
