A newly discovered photograph suggests Amelia Earhart may have survived a crash landing in the Marshall Islands.

Richard Jantz, a forensic anthropologist at the University of Tennessee, said the photo cannot be taken into fact just yet. Jantz has been studying known photos of Earhart to match measurements of bone fragments found on Nicumaroro Island in the 1940s.

“The new photo has certainly caused a stir,” Jantz told Live Science. “I look forward to their putting it out before the scientific community, so we can see what they did and how they did it.”

Yahoo! News and Knoxville’s WBIR also highlighted the discovery.
