Dozens of Gatlinburg residents, many of them wearing matching t-shirts that read “Gatlinburg wildfire survivors,” crowded into city hall Tuesday night to voice concerns and complaints related to the November Sevier County wildfires and how they’ve been handled by the city. Among the voices heard Tuesday was Henri Grissino-Mayer, professor in the Department of Geography, who had been predicting such a fire in the Gatlinburg area for about 10 years. He spoke of the growing threat of fire in the southeast.

The Knoxville News Sentinel and WBIR covered the event and featured Grissino-Mayer’s concerns.
