Jian Liu, assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will present his lecture “Condensed Matter Physics: a Diverse Society of Electrons” at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, as the final lecture in Saturday Morning Physics, a series sponsored by UT’s Department of Physics and Astronomy.
In the past 100 years, physicists have begun to research and understand conductors and insulators as a means of power and energy. Liu’s lecture will explore the recent findings of condensed matter physics. In addition, he will explain how creating materials atom by atom can help us understand collective electronic behavior and deepen our knowledge of designing new materials for innovative technologies.
Liu’s talk will be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m. with questions and discussion from 11:15 to noon in room 307 of the Science and Engineering Research Facility. Limited parking will be available in the 11th Street Garage.
