WBIR-TVOne UT professor is on a mission to warn people about wildfire risk. Henri Grissino-Mayer is a professor of geography who has been studying wildfires for more than 30 years. Several years ago, he predicted a catastrophic wildfire event would happen in the Great Smoky Mountains.

At a recent talk on campus, he said another devastating incident such as the November wildfires is possible unless changes are made. WBIR-TV Channel 10 was present to cover Grissino-Mayer’s talk.

Grissino-Mayer points to the potential threats in the Smoky Mountains, and how to mitigate future damage and loss of life should another fire occur in the future.
