You probably know that your VolCard is your passport to many things on campus. But you may not be aware of all the ways you can use your VolCard—and the perks you can receive by using your VolCard—both on and off campus.

Here are some of the ways you can use your VolCard:

UT and State Employee ID—Most importantly, your card serves as your identification on campus. All students, faculty, and staff are required to have a valid VolCard ID. Not only does it signify you are a UT employee, but it also signifies you as a state employee. Just by being a UT or state employee you can earn discounts and other perks off campus. To find a list of those discounts, browse the UT Human Resources discount page.

VolCard Debit—The VolCard can operate like a debit card. At any time you can log on to your account and add money to your card. VolCard debit can be used at any campus dining facilities and at participating off-campus merchants. VolCard debit also can be used at the VolShop, RecSports, campus vending machines, and other campus facilities. It can even be used at concession stands inside Thompson-Boling Arena and Neyland Stadium. Did you recently get a parking ticket? No worries—you can use your VolCard debit to pay off the fine. To deposit money onto your VolCard, visit the VolCard web deposit webpage.

Dining Club Accounts—The dining club account is a charge account for faculty and staff to make food purchases at dining facilities across campus. Swipe your VolCard when you check out and the charges are processed through payroll deduction. To access the form for dining club accounts, visit the faculty and staff page on the VolCard site.

Dining Discount Program—Faculty and staff are eligible for a 15 percent discount on food and beverages at dining facilities across campus. If you would like to be eligible for this discount, you can register your VolCard online. Then present your VolCard for the discount when you pay.

Library Rentals—Faculty and staff can use their VolCard to borrow and reserve books, periodicals, and videos at any of the libraries across campus. For many of these items, faculty and staff are eligible for longer rental periods than other university classifications. To find a list of items available and library policies, visit Hodges Library Public Services.

VolShop Discount—Faculty and staff can present their VolCard to receive a 20 percent discount off apparel, gifts, and general books.

RecSports—Faculty and staff may purchase memberships for use of RecSports facilities. Once purchased, these memberships last one year and can be accessed with the VolCard. A free two-week trial membership is available once every year to all staff. To find out more, visit the RecSports website.
