UT’s School of Music will host its annual gala to raise money for student scholarships this spring.
The black-tie event, which is open to the community, is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Cherokee Country Club, 5138 Lyons View Pike. Individual tickets are $200 and sponsorship packages start at $500. The deadline to RSVP is March 24. Those who plan on attending can RSVP on the event page.
With the theme “A Night in the Caribbean,” the gala will feature music, a wine pull, fine dining, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment by School of Music faculty and students.
During the live auction, participants will have the opportunity to bid on having School of Music students perform at an event in their home or another location. Other live auction items include a week for two at an all-inclusive Bahia Principe Caribbean resort with a $1,500 travel budget, a evening of dining at Blackberry Farm for four, a week at Bel Nor Cottage on Anna Maria Island, and Caribbean dinner for eight at Belvedere, home of Karen and Harvey White, featuring UT’s Andy Bliss and Cafe Marimba.
All contributions from the gala will fund scholarships to help recruit young musicians to the School of Music, thanks to the sponsorship of Pilot Flying J.
“The gala is a great opportunity to bring together the musical talents of the School of Music students and faculty and the generous supporters of the School of Music,” said Karen White, this year’s gala chair on the School of Music’s Board of Advisors. “We are planning a delightful evening to raise money for scholarships so that the UT School of Music can continue to attract talented students.”
