During the week of February 13–17, UT is challenging each alumni chapter around the country to raise a $500 scholarship.
The Chapter Scholarship Challenge is a weeklong effort to use social media, email, and UT’s crowdfunding site, VOLstarter.utk.edu, to add to the 46 scholarships already sponsored by UT’s 55 alumni chapters.
Three awards are being offered as part of the challenge. An additional $500 will be awarded to the first chapter to raise its $500 and either secure the most donors through Friday, Feb. 17, or raise enough funds to create a new scholarship.
UT alumni are asked to email or call fellow alumni and friends to encourage donationsto share social media posts from the UT Knoxville Alumni account, and to use the hashtag #UTChapterChallenge.
“Raising scholarships for our students is the best way for us to show how much we value their commitment to education and their membership in the Volunteer family,” said Taylor Thomas, director of alumni student recruitment and scholarships. “Giving students scholarships is an investment in their future and actually an investment in everyone’s future.”
