With snow in the forecast for Knoxville, it’s a good time to review the university’s policy on operations during inclement weather.
UT will remain open except in the most severe weather conditions, according to UT policy.
When a decision is made to close the university, to delay opening, or to close early, information will be sent to the campus community via UT Alert email, shared on social media and the UT web page, and sent to local media.
If winter weather impacts the area but UT is still open, all employees are expected to make reasonable efforts to get to work but are advised not to take undue risks in traveling. It’s important for employees to stay in contact with their supervisors.
Students also are expected to make reasonable efforts to get to class but should not take undue risks in traveling. They should stay in contact with their instructors regarding their attendance.
