Students at UT will have the chance to learn about study, intern, research, and service-learning opportunities during the Study Abroad Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, on the ground, first, and second floors of John C. Hodges Library.
UT offers programs in more than 50 countries on six continents around the world. The event is hosted biannually by the Center for International Education.
Attendees can meet faculty program directors, representatives from university-approved programs, peer advisors, study abroad alumni, and other campus representatives who will answer questions and help students explore program options.
Attendees can also receive information about scholarship and financial aid eligibility to finance their experiences. The Center for International Education awards approximately $500,000 in scholarships each year.
For the first time, faculty, staff, and students can apply for or renew a passport during the fair. The Nashville Passport Agency will be accepting passport applications on site.
To apply for a passport, attendees must bring the following items:
- Passport application—available online or at the fair.
- Proof of US citizenship: a previous US passport, certified copy of birth certificate, or naturalization papers.
- Proof of identity such as a valid driver’s license.
- Two identical passport photos. Photos may be taken at the event for $15.
- Cash or check for passport fees and processing.
Students not able attend the fair are encouraged to visit the Center for International Education, 1620 Melrose Ave., to learn more about programs abroad. The office’s peer advisors—students who have studied abroad previously—and programs abroad coordinators are available to answer any questions students may have about program options. The office also holds Study Abroad 101 information sessions at 2 p.m. each weekday in the Programs Abroad Office Resource Room.
