The public is invited to join McClung Museum during the month of August for programming focused on ancient art and civilizations.

A stroller tour with the theme “Stories from the Cave” will be 10:00–11:30 a.m. Monday, August 15. Participants will learn all about ancient cave art during a visit to the museum’s Human Origins: Searching for our Fossil Ancestors exhibit.

The tour is free and open to the public, but reservations are necessary and are first-come, first-served. Online registration is preferred. Participants also may call 865-974-2144 to make a reservation.

A “Sailing Along the Nile” Family Fun Day will be held 1:00–4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27. Event attendees will gather in the McClung’s Ancient Egypt: The Eternal Voice gallery for tours, crafts, and activities exploring ancient Egyptian civilization and culture.

The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are not necessary.

The McClung Museum is at 1327 Circle Park Drive. Museum admission is free, and the museum’s hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 1:00–5:00 p.m. Sundays. Free two-hour museum parking passes are available from the parking kiosk at the entrance to Circle Park Drive during the week. Free parking is available on the weekends. Free public transportation to the museum is available via the Knoxville Trolley Vol Line.
