A Jehovah’s Witnesses religious conference set for Friday, July 1, to Sunday, July 3, at Thompson-Boling Arena is expected to have a major impact on campus traffic and parking.

UT Parking and Transit Services officials are expecting very heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic near the arena each day from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Dedicated parking for the conference includes most of the spaces in the G10 garage next to the arena, portions of the Andy Holt Tower garage across the street from the arena, and half of the spaces in the Staff Lot 9 across from Neyland Stadium. Many other lots in the vicinity of the arena and stadium also will be used for convention parking.

On Friday, employees will be allowed to park on the G3 level and portions of the surface level of the Andy Holt Tower garage near the Hearing and Speech building, the Staff Lot 23 across the street from Pratt Pavilion, and the other half of the Staff Lot 9 across from the stadium.

All other C lots will be open to commuter students.

Employees and students with parking permits for the affected areas will receive an e-mail with instructions on their parking options.

Heavy traffic near the arena is expected Thursday, June 30, as equipment trucks arrive to begin setting up for the conference.

For more information on parking for the conference, visit the Parking and Transit Services website.
