Several areas will be affected by construction and upgrade projects beginning this weekend.

Starting Sunday, May 29, all lanes of Volunteer Boulevard between UT Drive and Pat Head Summitt Street will close for the summer. During the closure, workers will add pedestrian-friendly street lighting, trees, benches, tables and chairs, along with new sidewalks, curbs, and crosswalks. More information is available on the Facilities Services website.

The sidewalk along Blueberry Falls next to the Student Union will close Monday, May 30, for steam line repairs. The detour for pedestrians is through the Student Union or over the pedestrian bridge. Work should finish by the start of classes in August.

In early June, a section of sidewalk and the curbside lane of Volunteer Boulevard from Cumberland Avenue to Dunford Hall will be closed for utility work. Limited vehicular access to the parking circle in front of Dunford Hall and Greve Hall will be maintained during the closure. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the east side of Volunteer Boulevard. The sidewalk and the curbside lane are set to reopen by the start of classes in August. For more info, call 946-7777.
