The Washington Post recently featured UT political science graduate Abdusalam Omer in this story about his efforts to bring change to the nation of Somalia. Previously, he worked for the mayor of Washington DC and tried to help turn around crime-ridden neighborhoods and a failing school system. He is now trying to help turn around Somalia as governor of the country’s Central Bank. He studied public administration and earned a PhD at UT in 1986. Read the story online.
