UT’s McClung Museum will help launch a new “Explore Knoxville” Girl Scout patch on Saturday, April 30.
The McClung Museum, along with other local museums and historic homes and the Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians, will help area Girl Scouts fulfill the requirements to earn the patch. The “Explore Knoxville” patch challenges scouts to visit local institutions and participate in specific activities while learning about local and state history.
Troops can call the McClung Museum at 865-974-2144 to arrange a guided tour to help earn the patch. Scouts in uniform are eligible for a 10 percent discount in the Museum Store.
The patch can be ordered from the Girl Scout Council. More information is available on the Girl Scouts website.
The McClung Museum is located at 1327 Circle Park Drive. Museum admission is free, and the museum’s hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sundays. Free two-hour museum parking passes are available from the parking kiosk at the entrance to Circle Park Drive during the week. Free parking is available on the weekends. Free public transportation to the museum is available via the Knoxville Trolley Vol Line.
