faintinggoatraceUniversity Housing will host its second annual Fainting Goat 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, April 2. Check-in is at 7:30 a.m. at Fred D. Brown Jr. Residence Hall, and the race begins at 9 a.m.

Professional staff, resident assistants and various residence hall associations are collaborating to sponsor the race, which celebrates one of the state’s most fascinating and unique animals, the Tennessee fainting goat.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Heifer International, an organization whose mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.

“The fun run will be an amazing experience for family and friends. Participants can walk or run and enjoy the beautiful campus scenery while raising money for a great cause that has been near to our hearts,” said Jennifer Wilson, director of Clement Residence Hall.

“University Housing has hosted smaller fundraisers for Heifer International over the last few years, but we wanted to host a larger event to donate more money to their cause and raise awareness for their organization,” she said.

Registration is $15 for UT students and $20 for the general public if registered before Friday, March 18. Registration and additional race details are available here.

Late registration is $20 for UT students and $25 for the general public and begins at 8:00 a.m. on race day at Fred D. Brown Jr. Residence Hall.
