There have been several instances of sick raccoons spotted around the agriculture campus in the past five days, according to certified wildlife biologists in UT’s Department of Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries.
Raccoons are nocturnal animals and should not been seen out in the daytime.
Sick raccoons may stagger, walk in circles, or exhibit other strange behaviors. They may not act fearful of humans.
Do NOT attempt to touch, capture, or help these animals.
If you see a raccoon out during daylight hours or behaving strangely, report it immediately to UT Facilities Services at 865-946-7777 so that it can be safely removed and tested.
