UT’s Joshua Inwood and Derek Alderman wrote an opinion editorial for the Knoxville News Sentinel about the importance of diverse programs to the success of students beyond their college careers.

“The simple reality is that the state, region and nation are becoming more diverse, and as a state we are challenged to integrate new and diverse populations into our communities and our institutions,” the duo wrote. “Given the rapid globalization of the US economy, Tennessee citizens are no longer just competing regionally or nationally for jobs and business opportunities, but are competing globally with men and women from all over the world.” Continue reading online.

Inwood is an associate professor of geography and Africana studies. Alderman is professor and head of the Department of Geography.
