The university is in its fifth year of a contract with Blackboard Inc. to provide Learning Management System services and, per state policy,  is required to re-bid the contract.

As part of the evaluation process, OIT issued a formal Request for Information to review available LMS options. Responses were received from BlackboardInstructure Canvas, and Brightspace Desire2Learn.

Blackboard and Instructure Canvas visited campus November 17–18 to provide demonstrations of their learning management system solutions. If you were not able to attend any of the public sessions, view the recordings by clicking on the LMS Demonstrations link on the LMS Evaluation web page. Remember to also complete the feedback form for each. Your input is extremely important as we continue with the LMS review process. While you are at the site, take some time to review other information regarding this LMS review.

Brightspace Desire2Learn will present its demonstration in two sessions at 8:30–10:00 a.m. and 1:30–3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in Room 213, Hodges Library.

Additional information related to the RFI responses is available online.

Given that the LMS affects almost all faculty and students, OIT asks that members of the campus community attend one of the open demonstrations, ask questions, and provide feedback via the online feedback form for each vendor demonstration.

Next Steps: We will be using your feedback to craft the formal RFP for the competitive bid process to be distributed to vendors in January 2016. A review committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students will evaluate the final RFP responses, evaluate costs, and recommend the best LMS solution.
