The Center for Health Education and Wellness recently welcomed Marc McCulley to a new position in the department as an employee wellness coordinator.
In this role, McCulley will pave a new path for CHEW: coordinating and sharing the university’s health and wellness resources with faculty and staff. Additionally, McCulley will oversee a new employee wellness program to launch later this semester.
“I am excited to join a university that is so steeped in tradition and focused on their number one resource—the faculty and staff that help make this university great,” McCulley said. “I want to be a part of supporting UT’s employees as they make positive lifestyle choices. Small changes have big impacts.”
McCulley received a master’s degree in exercise science from Oakland University. With more than a decade of experience in the fitness and wellness industry, he has focused on promoting exercise and nutrition, changing health behaviors, and stopping tobacco use. McCulley was a health advocate for families through school and community outreach programs in nutrition and exercise.
“Marc brings enthusiasm and a commitment to improving the lives of UT’s employees,” said CHEW Director Ashley Blamey. “When it comes to making health changes, we are all starting from different places. Marc really gets that even small changes make a difference.”
At noon on Friday, November 6, McCulley will be the featured guest at Walk with a Vol at Thompson-Boling Arena. This thirty-minute walk sponsored by the Center for Physical Activity and Health begins at the Gate D entrance. There will be an indoor and outdoor walking option. Water and snacks will be provided.
